Visual Resistance

Visual Resistance is a collective of artists and activists based in New York City that uses art as a tool for social change.

In 2007, we merged with the radical art distro JustSeeds to form a national printmakers’ cooperative. JustSeeds.org features an online store featuring radical prints, books, zines, and posters. It also features a blog on radical culture which is the new online home of our old blog.

=================

Justseeds/Visual Resistance Artists' Cooperative is a decentralized community of artists who have banded together to both sell their work online in a central location and to collaborate with and support each other and social movements. Our website is not just a place to shop, but also a destination to find out about current events in radical art and culture. Our blog covers political printmaking, socially engaged street art, and culture related to social movements. We believe in the power of personal expression in concert with collective action to transform society.

How to make street art

Intro: This zine was compiled by members of Visual Restistance, and it is by no means a complete or official “how-to” . . . most of this information is based on second-hand knowledge, so if you have suggestions for the zine or the website, send us your ideas, images, and criticisms. If you are looking for reasons why you should put up street art, they’re not here — they’re outside on the street!
